Upcoming Tax Deed Sales

All sales start at 11:00 AM. Please be here by 10:30 AM to register. In order to register, you must bring 5% of your highest bid. Enter the building on the east side – all sales will be inside. To bid on a property, the Bidder Information Sheet must be completed.

The purchase of a tax deed does not warrant or guarantee a clear and marketable title. Neither the Clerk of Circuit Court nor the Tax Collector warrants or guarantees a clear and marketable title.

Tax Deed Surplus

To receive the surplus proceeds of a tax deed sale, please complete and submit the Tax Deed Surplus Claim Form.

List of Lands Available

There are no properties on the list of lands available at this time.

To Purchase Property from the List of Lands Available, contact the DeSoto County Clerk of Court, Tax Deed Department at (863) 993-4876 to ask about the current cost of purchasing the property. The total cost will include:

  1. Opening bid at the time of the auction
    • Past due taxes
    • Plus the costs required to bring the property to sale
    • One-half of the assessed value, pursuant to F.S. 197.502(6)(c), if homestead exempt
  2. All taxes incurred since the auction
  3. Accrued interest
  4. Costs to issue and record the Tax Deed, including documentary stamps.

90 days after the date of sale, any individual, county, or other units of government may purchase property from the List of Lands Available. If the property has not been sold within 3 years after placing it on the List of Lands Available, an escheatment tax deed will be issued to the DeSoto County Board of County Commissioners, free and clear. (F.S. 197.502(8))
